About The Position

Job Summary: The Professor's responsibility encompasses education, research, and/or service. Demonstrates loyalty to the mission, policies, standards, and regulations of his/her department, school, and the University, and follows the administrative policies set up by the University and the individual school. Performs other duties as needed. The Curriculum and Instructional Design Specialist in the School of Nursing supports faculty by leading instructional and curriculum design for online, blended, and campus-based courses, providing training in online teaching, and overseeing the learning design process. Reporting to the Dean, this role involves collaborating with faculty and administrators on course development, evaluating learning resources, shaping teaching guidelines, and ensuring continuous quality improvement in instructional practices. The specialist also teaches up to 8 credits annually at undergraduate and graduate levels, participates in accreditation, assessment, scholarship, and service activities, and engages in professional development through conferences and research. Education and Experience: Earned doctorate (or equivalent) from accredited institution, preferably with focus in area of scholarship. Post-doctoral experience (or equivalent) encouraged. Minimum five years of successful teaching experience as Associate Professor with emphasis in area of scholarly focus. Functions in a leadership capacity in area of expertise.

  • Post-doctoral experience (or equivalent) encouraged.
  • Minimum five years of successful teaching experience as Associate Professor with emphasis in area of scholarly focus.
  • Functions in a leadership capacity in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations.
  • Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position as well as Canvas and Banner.
  • Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
  • Professional certification, licensure or registration as appropriate.
