About The Position

Thales College seeks a full-time professor of Humanities, starting in July 2026, to teach undergraduate courses and mentor students in our Classical Liberal Arts major, as well as to oversee our growing Classical Education teacher certificate program (for both undergraduates and working professionals).

Requirements

  • At least a master’s degree in a core Humanities discipline (literature, history, philosophy) or adjacent discipline
  • Deep knowledge of, and appreciation for, the history, thought, and great works of the Western Tradition

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience at college level preferred but not required
  • Some familiarity with the current Classical Education renewal movement strongly preferred; experience with K-12 Classical schools a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full-time load within the Liberal Arts program (2-4 courses a quarter): the majority of courses will be in the college’s Great Books of the Western Tradition course sequence; plus occasional courses in the professor’s subject area
  • Mentor teaching students and oversee their extracurricular training and student teaching internships with local K-12 schools
  • Oversee all aspects of the college’s Certificate in Classical Education Philosophy (CCEP) Program
  • Maintain networks with K-12 Classical schools, including visiting area Classical schools for student recruitment
