Provide comprehensive writing support to a diverse student population with varied academic needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Art in English required
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds
  • Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
  • Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae
  • Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duties satisfactorily.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree strongly preferred
  • Experience with tutoring via on-line delivery/distance learning strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist students across the disciplines throughout all levels of the research and writing process
  • Collaborate with faculty to incorporate course-specific learning outcomes during tutoring sessions
  • Assist students in identifying their individual strengths and skills in order to make study plans, establish academic goals, and maximize the student's potential
  • Work with students in person and through online platforms
  • Guide graduate students towards developing a professional written voice with formal language
  • Provide academic skill building workshops
  • Participate in outreach activities to promote tutoring services
  • Assist in the maintenance and evaluation of tutoring materials and services
  • Collaborate as a team member of the Student Success Center (SSC)
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned
