About The Position

This role provides personalized educational support for students in the Veterinary Technology program. Primary Functions: · Model, guide, and advise individuals in developing the academic skills or content knowledge that are important for student success. · Provide support during times of difficulty (e.g. poor grade performance, poor test performance, test anxiety, students who are overwhelmed with academic demands of college). · On a student voluntary basis, help the mentee to develop academic goals geared toward enhancing academic skills, learning and study strategies. · Employ the best communication skills to facilitate relationships, understanding, and learning. · Complete and submit all required routine paperwork or session logs, timesheets, mentor/tutorial agreement forms. · Supplement the instruction of faculty. · Gather resources (i.e., course contracts, internet resources, study guides) that will help to facilitate supplementing of instruction. · Promote their services to the campus community via print media, electronic media, and personal communication (e.g., visitations to classrooms and labs). · Meet with the director a minimum of three times per semester. · Work four (4) hours per week for walk-in appointments and work three (3) hours per week for scheduled appointments. Minimum Qualifications: Veterinary Technology degree is required. Preferred Qualifications: See above minimum qualifications. Job Specific Competencies: Must be able to: communicate using the Microsoft Outlook email system, follow instructions in completing essential paperwork such as time sheets and forms documenting each tutorial session.
