About The Position

Position Summary: Provide content tutoring primarily in chemistry to a diverse student population with varied academic needs. Primary Responsibilities: Tutor students in the chemistry sequence, including general chemistry, biochemistry and organic chemistry Work with students in person and through online platforms Collaborate with faculty to incorporate course-specific learning outcomes during tutoring sessions Help students identify their own individual strengths and skills in order to make study plans, establish academic goals, and maximize the student's potential Participate in outreach activities and campus events Assist in the maintenance and evaluation of tutoring materials and services Collaborate as a team member of the Student Success Center (SSC) Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned Skills and Experience : Bachelor of Science required, Master's degree preferred Experience with college level tutoring Experience with tutoring via on-line delivery/distance learning strongly preferred Ability to tutor entry level biology strongly preferred Comfortable working with students one-on-one, in class, and in small group formats Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duties satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science required
  • Experience with college level tutoring
  • Comfortable working with students one-on-one, in class, and in small group formats
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds
  • Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
  • Outstanding verbal, writing, and presentation skills; must be able to communicate and interact effectively with Mount Mary students, employees, and alumnae
