This position uses subject matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps that vary in nature and sequence. Licenses, certifications and/or relevant experience and education in the assigned program specialty are typically required prior to assuming this position. The employee selects from alternative methods and refers problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures to more qualified staff. Typical duties may include: assisting in a variety of departmental projects or programs; handling and adjusting complaints; and providing technical assistance or support to professional staff. This position may also provide specialized services in support of planned departmental programs and activities on a temporary or contract basis. Job assignments may include: Performing as Volunteer Program Coordinator, Animal Welfare Foster and Transfer Program Assistant, Veterinarian Assistant, and Police Victim Services Assistant; providing hazard abatement assistance and support and technical support for utility billing functions; performing functions involving GIS drafting, mapping, and graphic design; work order and inventory control; marketing and communications; hazard abatement and oil and gas, storm shelter and fence inspections; installing communications equipment/mobile devices; completing environmental field work and paperwork; and researching and assisting with writing plans and standard operating procedures. The necessary skills, knowledge and ability and/or licenses and certifications to perform departmental specific tasks are typically acquired prior to assuming the duties of the position.
