About The Position

Craig A. Smith & Associates, LLC (CAS) is a well-established civil engineering and surveying firm with over 45 years of service across South Florida. We are committed to providing high-quality services to our clients while fostering a team-oriented, professional work environment. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Professional Surveyor and Mapper to oversee and manage a variety of projects in the South and Central Florida areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land surveying (both field and office), excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage large scale projects; field crews and office staff efficiently.

Requirements

  • Current Florida Surveyor and Mappers License
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper
  • Must be Authorized to Work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and the ability to travel to job sites.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong knowledge of survey terminology, processes, and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Trimble Business Center.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, field staff, and internal teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility maps, plans, and field markings.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in varying conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform additional field duties or assist with utility locating as assigned.
  • Coordinate daily scheduling of field survey crews and office support staff.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between survey managers, project managers, clients, and field crews.
  • Review work orders, proposals, and project requirements to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Track project timelines and ensure timely delivery of survey services.
  • Perform field and office calculations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during the course of survey operations.
  • Assist with drafting task orders and organizing project files.
  • Certify surveys as required.
