About The Position

The School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Utah State University is seeking a Professional Practice Assistant Professor with a primary emphasis on school leadership and a secondary focus on foundations of education. Join an outstanding group of School Leadership faculty who are making a difference in schools and the scholarly discipline. The emphasis of this position is teaching, which will include work with graduate and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will join a vibrant school of 38 faculty, 31 on the Logan campus and 7 on Statewide Campuses. Located on the main campus in Logan, Utah, this is a term appointment, academic year, nine-month position with the opportunity for summer employment, dependent on the availability of funds. The position is not remote-eligible and contingent on a successful background check. Review of applications will begin October 30, 2025, and continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is August 2026, depending on the availability of the selected candidate. Requirements

  • Earned EdD or PhD by June 2026 with emphasis in school leadership or a closely related discipline (ABD candidates may apply)
  • Five years of experience as a school- or district-level administrator in K-12 Education
  • Experience teaching adults and providing professional development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and collegial relationships with faculty, students, and staff
  • Evidence of scholarship or ability to contribute to scholarly writing

Nice To Haves

  • Current or past K-12 administrative licensure
  • Ability to lead and organize programs to promote effective student progress
  • Effective teaching at the college/university level
  • Experience with teaching via online instruction and distance education delivery
  • Experience advising for or administering Ed.D. programs

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate courses in school leadership
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the foundations of education
  • Understand and support the coordination of admissions, scheduling, and advising for school leadership graduate programs
  • Participate in scholarship relevant to school leadership and assigned responsibilities
  • Serve on graduate student committees
  • Provide national, state, and local service to the profession
  • Teach the equivalent of a 4-4 teaching load
