About The Position

Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This Professional Engineer position is with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection's (Division) Bureau of Water Pollution Control within the Technical Services, Compliance, and Enforcement (TCE) Branch located in the Las Vegas office. This position will help protect Nevada's water resources by ensuring that discharges to surface and groundwater meet State and Federal environmental standards. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Primary duties include: civil improvement plan review, facility inspections, compliance evaluations, subdivision plan review, and enforcement actions in conformance with the Federal Clean Water Act and/or Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code (NRS and NAC 445A). Additional duties include: collection of treated effluent for sampling, technical writing, spill report investigations, conducting meetings with permittees, consultants, and/or the public, and other duties as assigned. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in the agency. The position is approximately 75% office work and 25% field work. Field work will include day & overnight travel to facilities throughout Nevada.
