The City of Springfield's Department of Environmental Services is seeking applicants for aProfessional Engineerposition (option to underfill as an Engineer III). The position may focus on some or all the following areas: Manage infrastructure planning and capital improvement projects with design consultants; Work with a team of professionals in collection system assessment, performance, and asset management; Update and utilize the sanitary sewer hydraulic model; Review and analysis of sanitary sewer engineering plans and environmental data; Perform wastewater program planning and rehabilitation improvement analysis; Design capital improvement and rehabilitation projects; Supervise staff as assigned. The ideal candidates will seek innovative solutions and have a technical background in water resources, environmental, sanitary sewer, stormwater, or wastewater engineering. Experience in project management, hydraulic modeling, GIS, and/or data analysis is preferred. About the Department of Environmental Services Environmental Services is responsible for protecting the quality of the water resources in and around Springfield. Environmental Services manages over 1,200 miles of sanitary sewer infrastructure, two award winning wastewater treatment plants, water quality compliance with the City's municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4), and the regional municipal landfill. In 2021, Springfield was highlighted as 1 of 13 municipalities in an EPA report to Congress with an implemented Integrated Plan for the Environment.
