About The Position

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with a diverse student and client population and is eager to contribute to a learning environment. Communicates and collaborates with instructional colleagues, Clinic Manager, and Medical Director. Possesses excellent communication skills. Performs proper grooming techniques on all breeds. Techniques include, but are not limited to, bathing, clipping, nail trimming, ear cleaning, brushing, and drying. Independently books appointments and manages client records, ensuring they contain all pertinent information, including client demographic information, service history, vaccination status, and additional pertinent information to support returning clients. Ensures that pets are properly identified with ID collars and cage cards. Operates and maintains grooming equipment properly. Ensure grooming products are in stock and available to customers when needed. Coordinate with custodial staff to maintain a sanitary grooming area. Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director or their designee. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position may require long periods of standing and lifting up to 50lbs. The teacher may also be required to operate hand tools and motor equipment and may work in confined spaces with exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, and gases. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Full-Time/Ten-month, School-year position (183 days) Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Benefits per support staff contracts and compensation policy. EVALUATION: Annually by Supervisor JOB GOAL:To foster an awareness and understanding of the essential skills and applicable knowledge of pet grooming in every pupil to ensure proficiency in the business or public sector; and to instill in each pupil safe working habits, a thorough understanding of sanitary working conditions, proper customer service, and to promote the attributes of reliability, competence, loyalty, and dependability.

Requirements

  • Possesses three years of recent (within the last five years), full-time employment experience directly related to pet grooming.
  • Must have excellent animal handling skills.
  • Must be committed to student and animal safety.
  • Candidates must be prepared to work in a learning environment along with high school students.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to create an instructional atmosphere where students, staff, and customers feel welcome and respected.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaborate with other members of the clinic team.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable using computers and software.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • May have such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent Director deems appropriate and acceptable.

Nice To Haves

  • Fear-free certification preferred.
  • Prior instructional experience is desirable.
