About The Position

The Professional Coding Manager oversees all professional coding operations within Dayton Children’s. This role ensures coding accuracy, regulatory compliance, and efficient processes that support optimal revenue cycle performance. Reporting to the Director of Mid‑Cycle Operations, the manager leads a team of professional medical coders and maintains effective day‑to‑day workflow operations. Requirements

  • Associate degree required
  • One of the following is required: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator
  • Three+ years of experience in professional coding required
  • At least one year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work tactfully with patients, staff, and interdepartmental customers
  • Proficient in managing professional coding processes
  • Proficient in understanding coding related guidelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Knowledge of healthcare coding regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
