About The Position

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Production Technician who will be based at our Texas City, TX, #2 ASU facility. The Production Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day overall operation of air separation, nitrogen liquification, pipeline backup systems, and site utilities located at the Texas City #2 complex. Additional responsibilities include truck and railcar filling operations, assisting in maintenance activities, issue troubleshooting, program / policy tasks (quality, environmental, SOP’s, etc..). This role is reporting directly to the production superintendent but is expected to also take directions from senior operations staff and facility management. This role will work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (12 hours, Dupont schedule – on-duty and on call shifts).

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in an industrial production environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Motivated, self-starter capable of effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Relevant computer and technical skills
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Must have good, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job:
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed spaces.
  • Be able to wear all required personal protective equipment.
  • Qualify and wear a full-face respirator.

Nice To Haves

  • P-Tech Degree or equivalent apprenticeship preferred.
  • Previous experience in a continuous chemical operation environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and strictly adhere to company safety work policies and operating practices.
  • Report safety incidents, near misses, and support a positive safety culture.
  • Follow safe work permit processes, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure safety and hazard recognition through the use of PTW (permit to work) is implemented and effective for all personnel involved in your actions.
  • Ensure implementation of LOTO for operations and maintenance activities, performed by either internal LINDE resources or outside contractors.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all Praxair & LINDE Governmental Environmental Permits, Regulations, and Policies.
  • Understand Production KPIs and work towards achieving these goals - included in individual performance rating.
  • Understand the theoretical aspects of compressor and expansion turbine operations and make adjustments to ensure reliable and efficient machine operation.
  • Understand the theoretical aspects of fractional distillation and refrigeration process and adjust controls towards achieving desired flows, pressures, and purities.
  • Utilize a computer managed and maintained maintenance work order system (EAM).
  • Understand P&ID and control loop input-output logic.
  • Understand Process Loop interaction and impact on the process (i.e. basic air separation principles).
  • Knowledge of Switchgear relay flags and functionally rack in-out breakers.
  • Ensure customer quality requirements are met for ALL products: maintain Quality Program.
  • Complete all LMS training modules and OJT for assigned job per assigned timeline.
  • Support production KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and work towards achieving these goals.
  • Has some experience in a remote plant operation using HMI..
  • Ensure customer quality requirements are met for ALL products: maintain Quality Program and support internal and external quality audits.
  • Understand and monitor efficiency of equipment: cooler approaches, compressor and distillation performance, unit efficiency, etc.
  • Understand and follow all SMP, SOP, COP, OSS, OPS alerts and Technical Bulletins.
  • Support maintenance staff to maintain plant, utilities, and building and grounds.
  • Ensure the plant manager and plant superintendent are informed of any deviations in operation.
  • Monitor product purity, inventory, and pressure indications for abnormalities.
