As a Production Technician II, you are responsible for cabinet construction, T-SCIF build support, mechanical installation, and heat containment fabrication across Switch data center facilities. You work independently on assigned build tasks and support production scheduling to meet customer deployment timelines. This role combines mechanical skill, construction execution, and quality assurance in live mission-critical environments. You mentor Technician I team members and help ensure readiness for customer installations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in production, facilities, mechanical maintenance, or related field.
  • Experience using powered and non-powered hand tools.
  • Demonstrated ability in dimensional measurement and layout.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand data center support schematics.
  • General knowledge of electrical and plumbing repair.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and construction safety standards.
  • Valid state-issued drivers license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment and respond to urgent needs.

  • Field experience exceeding Production Technician I scope.
  • Relevant trade or technical certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and assemble data center cabinets for T-SCIF and RPP build requirements.
  • Install cabinets, cage spaces, ladder racks, and perimeter containment systems.
  • Fabricate and install heat containment panels, grid systems, and ceiling tiles.
  • Perform light-duty construction and mechanical installation tasks.
  • Assist with plumbing-related build tasks, including basic fitting assemblies and leak testing.
  • Safely transport populated customer cabinets using proper procedures and equipment.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on completed installations.
  • Identify and resolve heat containment and configuration issues.
  • Read blueprints and interpret schematics related to data center infrastructure.
  • Prepare job sites, load and deliver materials, and operate tools and equipment safely.
  • Mentor and support Technician I team members during builds.
  • Interface with customers regarding ticketed support items.
  • Identify billable work and track related tasks appropriately.
  • Maintain tool and supply inventory.
