The Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests, and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines for Caterpillar machines and over 5000 other applications, including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. This Production Technician role at Caterpillar in Seguin, Texas, involves hands-on work to assemble, test, and troubleshoot cutting-edge equipment, specifically focusing on diesel engine assembly. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 months' experience in a machining, manufacturing, or warehouse environment or industry certification
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English
  • General knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint
  • Ability to adhere to safety procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of the Skillpoint Alliance Manufacturing Technician Program
  • Previous experience reading and interpreting part prints and/or schematics
  • Previous experience assembling engines, engine components, and/or generators
  • Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Work

Responsibilities

  • Align and secure engine components according to work instructions
  • Install gaskets, seals, bearings, hoses, covers, and visual components
  • Ensure parts and materials used in assembly are defect-free
  • Assist in problem-solving and improvement initiatives across departments
  • Verify alignment of engine components using schematics and part prints
  • Inspect parts and materials for quality defects
  • Conduct audits and quality inspections to address known defects
  • Perform torque audits, leak tests, and visual inspections on engines
  • Submit and support resolution of C.P.S. Continuous Improvement cards
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and area-specific instructions
  • Provide process information to supervisors and managers
  • Occasionally participate in training and development
  • Perform any other assigned duties
