About The Position

The Production Tech supports the successful execution of live events and programs across 3CDC’s civic spaces. The role requires a flexible, adaptable technician who is comfortable working across multiple disciplines including audio, lighting, and basic stagecraft. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who can succeed as both a crew leader and a peer teammate. They will serve as an audiovisual and theatrical technician at 3CDC civic spaces, Reporting to the Production Manager, with additional supervision by the Technical Asset Manager, Director of Event Management, Memorial Hall Manager, and Civic Space Supervisors. They will work with rental clients, partners, and internal stakeholders to fulfill these needs for events. Production Techs are also expected to accept shifts as stage support, supporting the safety and access to our performing spaces during higher stakes events. This job description is not intended to be all inclusive. The employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by their immediate supervisor and other management as required.

Requirements

  • Experience working in live event production, theater or similar environments
  • Working knowledge of audio, lighting and basic stagecraft
  • Ability to lift and move equipment (typically up to 50 pounds)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends and irregular hours
  • 2+ years experience as a primary technician in a venue preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Dante Certification a plus.
  • Aptitude in all areas of technical theatre, including lighting, sound (live mixing, mic’ing, stage plot fulfillment), projection / video, rigging and basic stagecraft.
  • Aptitude with Digico 225, Yamaha CL3 console, M32, Behringer Wing, Crestron systems, Hog lighting consoles and / or ETC Eos consoles a plus.
  • Aptitude in video switching and video editing a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical safety and signal flow a plus
  • CPR/First Aid or OSHA training a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, operate and strike sound, projection, video and lighting systems for live events, meetings and performances
  • Serve as stage support, stagehand, lighting technician, projection operator or soundboard engineer
  • Execute transitions between events
  • Maintain theatrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot basic audio and lighting signal flow issues and equipment malfunctions
  • Work collaboratively with production staff, venue staff, visiting technicians and clients/performers
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment
  • Follow all safety protocols and venue policies
  • Be adaptable to changing event needs and schedules
