Scope – Purpose of the position The Production Supervisor directs, engages, and supervises the production team and packaging operations and drives continuous improvement to ensure the delivery of a high-quality product with efficient production. The Production Supervisor provides clear direction to the team, communicates goals, trains new procedures, and provides constructive guidance to the team. The Production Supervisor works closely with the Production Manager as well as the Maintenance, Quality, and Shipping departments to ensure cohesive production communication throughout the departments.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of supervisory and leadership role in food manufacturing or similar experience
  • Strong communication, management, and delegation skills
  • Extensive knowledge of food manufacturing process is required, and baking process experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and capable of learning new technologies quickly
  • Strong written and oral interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of safe work practices, GMPs, incident investigation techniques permit to work systems, management of change and safety & environmental regulations.
  • Ability to facilitate efficient cooperation between departments.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and react to changing priorities.
  • Ability to assess, prioritize and resolve plan issues.
  • Knowledgeable in HACCP and SQF.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, engages, and supervises the production team and packaging operations and drives continuous improvement to ensure the delivery of a high-quality product with efficient production.
  • Monitors product quality by ensuring identified requirements are met, testing is performed and analyzed in accordance with procedures and production specifications.
  • Provides training, leadership, and coaching to associates to create a culture of inclusion and engagement.
  • Works with management team to evaluate the performance of team and communicate resolutions to issues
  • Actively participates in identifying, onboarding, and training of new staff
  • Responsible for ensuring and maintaining a safe work environment through compliance of company and legal requirements and makes suggestions for improvements as necessary.
  • Drives a Continuous Improvement environment by developing an understanding the production line and streamlining processes with the objective of reducing waste while striving for efficiency of a high-quality product.
  • Demonstrates support of General Bakery Safety, Food Safety Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure adherence to all quality requirements including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and performs regular line inspections to evaluate, implement and enforce.
  • Ensures production associates execute and maintain records for all phases of production, as required.
  • Completes staff scheduling to ensure production lines are adequately staffed and coordinates with other departments to minimize downtime.
  • Provides cross training to associates for maximum coverage of production line.
  • Supervise and control completion of established standards regarding consumption, quality, and yield by using KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
  • Utilize root cause analysis to identify problems and implement corrective actions to improve the performance of the production lines.
  • Conducts incident investigations, responsible for first reporting processes, communicates to upper management, and works with internal departments for preventative action implementation.
  • Develop and maintain quality and safety food standards.
