About The Position

The role of a production supervisor with Wawona Frozen Foods is to oversee the operations for all activity in designated departments. The Supervisor will ensure that their assigned department(s) are operating in a manner that is cost efficient and process effective while maintaining the highest level of quality available and complying by all company procedures, and local and federal regulations. This position will oversee all aspects of the department and will require you to work in collaboration with the department manager to drive improvements.

Requirements

  • 4 years' experience working in a manufacturing or similar setting.
  • 2 or more years' experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing or similar setting.
  • Ability to perform operations using units of weight measurements, quality standards, and quantity measurements.
  • Proficient understanding of Safety, Food Safety, SQF, & GMP policies and procedures.
  • Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills
  • A strong work ethic and a can-do attitude
  • Self-motivated and self-starter
  • Ability to work with various employees and employee levels while building rapport and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment.
  • Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
  • Follow all GMP, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.
  • Drive's organizations initiatives and is an active member and leader for continuous improvement projects that include: Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost Reduction, Employee Development, and Customer Satisfaction.
  • Performs work in accordance with all quality systems requirements included in SQF 8 including Food Safety, Food Defense, HACCP, and GMP's as well as meets all company corporate requirements related to quality and food safety programs.
  • Regularly reviews shift performance with department manager and communicates to employees.
  • Provides feedback to employees. Together with the department manager, sets expectations and holds team accountable.
  • Collaborates with employees, including operators and/or batchers to ensure production lines are operating optimally and starting and stopping on time.
  • Ensures employees take breaks and lunches appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Routinely inspects the quality of product being produced and inspects final product to ensure internal and external finished product specifications are being met.
  • Ensures all employees are abiding by company policies, safety policies and operational standard operating procedures. This includes ensuring that GMP's and PPEs are worn appropriately.
  • Participates as an active member of companies' safety initiatives including as a member of the HazMat team.
  • Ensures proper planning and alignment is derived to obtain minimal to no downtime at the beginning of each shift. This includes proper planning for equipment, materials, and personnel.
  • Removes employee obstacles that prohibit or impact production efficiencies.
  • Ensures that the workplace remains organized and free from safety hazards throughout the shift.
  • Ensures that at the end of each shift, the tie-out process is complete, and all issues have been resolved to enable cost accounting, this includes proper labor coding for employees.
  • Develops daily schedule for employees.
  • Notifies department manager and/or upper management of safety and quality issues.
