About The Position

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Night Shift Packaging Supervisor to join our team of manufacturing professionals at the 900 High Street plant in Hanover, PA. The standard working shift is Monday-Thursday 5:55PM to 5:55AM. Applicants with leadership skills required to direct the packing department and interface with business partners, as well as strong public speaking and organizational skills are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be responsible to supervise the execution of packaging requirements as directed by the production schedule. Knowledge of packaging machinery and processing operations is preferred. Fluency in English and Spanish is strongly desired, but not required. This position requires strong analytical, math and reading skills. Working knowledge of the Utz D365 System, Microsoft Office Suite, Redzone, and the Utz Enterprise Asset Management system is preferred. Requirements

  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Experience with packaging machinery and production operations preferred.
  • Effective communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, math, and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift moderate weight and move skids as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience in manufacturing is a plus.
  • Additional post-high school education preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct contact on the floor and in the D365 System for all night shift product transfers, trailer transfers, item transfers and inventory adjustments in the packaging area. Being able to support other supervision in D365 activities.
  • Oversees nightly production requirements as directed by the production schedule.
  • Must be forklift certified or have the ability to become forklift certified.
  • Ability to substitute operators, dumpers, finished goods handlers when vacations, call-offs, or appointments arise.
  • Direct supervision and nightly scheduling of packaging operations for both full and temporary staffing.
  • Evaluates individual performance and trains personnel to ensure standards are met.
  • Maintains a line of communication with packaging, processing, and maintenance teams.
  • Assists additional packaging leadership within Plant 3, when support is needed.
  • Ability to lead projects requested by Plant Manager and Shift Manager.
  • Communicates with Human Resource on subjects such as workers compensation, light duty and family medical leave.
  • Communicates directly with day shift supervisor on a daily basis at shift change.
  • Ability to assist fellow supervisors with Redzone and understand the concepts that module.
  • Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Possess working knowledge of 6-S and LEAN principles.
  • Ability to lead and be involved in projects pertaining to the annual SQF audit.
  • Responsible to follow and enforce all Safety rules and report unsafe equipment and practices to the Production Manager.
