About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safe and timely activities of production staff, under the direction of the VP, Manufacturing, with responsibility for the day-to-day operations for production. The Production Supervisor is the main contact for problem solving and continuous improvement activities to be implemented on the manufacturing floor and in training and coaching of production staff as needed. The Production Supervisor is also an individual contributor, building products, in addition to supervising employees.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree in a related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • IPC-A-610 and J-STD 001 current soldering certificates required
  • 5+ years manufacturing plant experience
  • 1 to 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex manufacturing drawings
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required

Responsibilities

  • Manages day-to-day production activities, under the direction of Operations Management.
  • Supervises production employees in the manufacturing and packaging of products.
  • Provides leadership for employees through effective communication, coaching, training and development.
  • Manage a staff of up to 30 production employees including temporary staff.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels based on production needs. Creates and maintains weekly production schedule.
  • Effectively uses labor, materials, and support services to meet quality standards, production schedules, and profit plans.
  • Provides technical guidance for production operators, including troubleshooting.
  • Provides production metrics as requested.
  • Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure schedules are met.
  • Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees.
  • Oversees personnel responsibilities, including evaluating job performance.
  • Exercise responsibility for product cost control and quality within design and specification constraints, including efficient work area layout and material flow.
  • Leads finding effective and timely solutions to problems through team members.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions, and responding to requests.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
