PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - 2nd SHIFT Job Title: Production Supervisor – 2nd shift (Normal hours are Monday - Friday plus coverage as needed) TRAINING will be completed on 1st shift until 2nd shift Start up Department: Manufacturing & Operations Location: Abbeville, South Carolina – Aerofoam USA Reporting Line: Plant Manager Position Summary: The Production Supervisor – 2nd Shift is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations on the plant floor, with a strong focus on safety, product quality, on-time delivery, and workforce engagement. This role will oversee production of elastomeric insulation materials, including rubber mixing, extrusion, and curing processes. The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience in rubber, plastics, or extrusion manufacturing and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background preferred in rubber, plastics, extrusion, or similar process-based industries.
  • Solid leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of production processes, safety practices, and quality systems.
  • Proficient in using ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical associate degree or higher in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in elastomeric insulation or similar products.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma training/certification.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily production activities to meet output, quality, cost, and delivery targets
  • Ensure production schedules are followed and adjust resources as needed to address delays or issues
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime
  • Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
  • Lead, train, and motivate production employees to achieve high performance
  • Assign tasks, manage shift coverage, and approve timekeeping records
  • Conduct onboarding, performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment
  • Ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications
  • Identify root causes of defects and implement corrective actions
  • Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Enforce all safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe work practices
  • Conduct safety talks, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-ups
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, and applicable regulations
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, scrap, and downtime
  • Participate in lean manufacturing, 5S, or process improvement initiatives
  • Ability to read production schedules, reports, and technical documentation
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems (SAP, spreadsheets, timekeeping software)
