Production Supervisor Job Summary The Press Supervisor will supervise all aspects of the Press Department. Responsibilities include the assignment of department employees and coordination of workflow with other departments. Trains employees and evaluates progress.

Requirements

  • The minimum education required for this position is a High School Diploma or Equivalent. May include specialized classes beyond high school.
  • Typically possesses 3-5 years of relevant professional work experience.
  • First level of supervision or project lead.
  • Responsible for a team performing one function (for example, customer service, bindery) for a project.
  • Leads, assigns and monitors work for a team.
  • Requires understanding of the overall printing production process and the press functions.
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment and software, as well as standard graphic arts software.
  • Regular exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc. More than 50% of work time.
  • Incumbent constantly required to hear, speak, articulate, use color vision and use manual dexterity.
  • Incumbent regularly required to stand, walk, grasp, and reach.
  • Incumbent occasionally required to climb, lift up to 50 lbs, carry, and sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Incumbent may occasionally be required to travel.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Evaluates performance of individual employees based on goals for productivity and quality.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures to promote efficiency and quality production.
  • Coordinates preventative machine maintenance to minimize production down time.
  • Supervises and trains employees on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ensures compliance with established plant policies and procedures.
  • Implements production schedules by coordinating machine and personnel assignments
  • Communicates with other department managers and supervisors regarding production schedules and requirements to ensure product quality and resource efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
