Supervises and coordinates activities of productions shift operations by performing the following: Principal Responsibilities: Direct supervision of work crews processing materials to customer specification in a safe and productive manner. Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs. Assigns operating equipment and personnel to accomplish efficient material flow on a timely and cost-effective basis. Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area to meet customer specifications. Interprets product specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure production deadlines are met. Coordinates quality control inspections for compliance to standard specifications. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, environmental requirements, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Maintains time and production records. Participates and contributes to company safety program. Performs other related duties as assigned. Management duties include supervision of exempt and/or non-exempt staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations and improvement plans, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing candidates for open positions.
