Job Summary The Production Supervisor is accountable for supervising mill and loading operations. The supervisor must ensure that all employees on the shift are working safely and efficiently, that established procedures are followed, and that the production schedule is followed. This supervisor is also specifically accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the ice cream salt line.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a production packaging environment.
  • Possesses knowledge of technical information on the unit/area.
  • Demonstrates background knowledge of operating procedure and process..
  • Understands maintenance procedures and processes
  • Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Demonstrates competencies as outlined in the Morton Salt Leadership Competency Model

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for providing Leadership in support of the Safety Journey and the Company’s goal of achieving an Injury-free Workplace
  • Accountable for Continuous Improvement in workplace safety by promptly addressing the root causes of OIIs or Near Misses, conducting effective safety meetings, promptly addressing safety concerns raised by employees and leading by example
  • Accountable for operating department in compliance with MSHA, Company EHS rules and quality standards
  • Accountable for setting Clear Performance Expectations for Employees and drive performance improvements
  • Accountable for ensuring OPI’s are completed and actions are taken based on OPI comments
  • Accountable/ responsible for submitting clearly written work requests for repair work done in area of responsibility and ensuring repair work is completed per the Return to Service Policy
  • Accountable/ responsible for providing supervision, leadership and coaching to employees in area of responsibility
  • Accountable for efficient packaging operations (for 8/4 Line) as measured by OEE targets or other KPIs
  • Responsible for adherence to the production schedule
  • Accountable for complying with SOI requirements
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with all QC requirements (GMP, HACCP, etc) and providing leadership to drive continuous improvements in product quality
  • Accountable for maintaining high standards for housekeeping and taking advantage of available straight time labor resources to manage housekeeping tasks
  • Accountable for the minimization of scrap, waste, or rework from packaging operations
  • Accountable for the orderly placement of finished product in the warehouse to facilitate stock rotation and the minimization of damaged finished pallets while placing product in the warehouse
  • Accountable for the accurate reporting of production via the Bar Code System
  • Responsible for recording accurate loss accounting data (OEE reporting tool)
  • Responsible for communicating maintenance, production, quality, & EHS Issues to other Shifts through Shift-Handoff Meeting
  • Responsible for ensuring parts are withdrawn properly from satellite storerooms and main storeroom when needed
  • Accountable and responsible for the efficient utilization of department mechanics including the development of a weekly schedule
  • Responsible for providing vacation relief as necessary
  • Responsible for checking the accuracy of hourly employees’ timecards and the checking of the payroll system for accuracy of the entry as compared to the timecard and making corrections/entries as needed. Making sure timecards and system approvals are done at the end of the shift supervised and turned in to payroll prior to 8 AM the following morning
