About The Position

The production supervisor oversees the company's manufacturing process, manages a team of workers to ensure production targets are met, maintains quality standards, and adheres to safety regulations by scheduling shifts, monitoring production efficiency, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with other departments to optimize production processes.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • At least two years of experience in a similar role in manufacturing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to lead and motivate others
  • Experience using manufacturing machinery, tools, and knowledge of health and safety standards
  • Ability to plan, set objectives, and organize workflow
  • Ability to assess situations, identify solutions, and make effective decisions
  • The ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Able to use computer applications like Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Willing to learn new applications as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • An associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned personnel to establish and maintain a work environment within company policies and procedures that provides high levels of personnel performance, morale, safety, and discipline.
  • Assign tasks, schedule shifts, train new employees, conduct performance evaluations, and address employee concerns.
  • Develop and execute production schedules to meet deadlines and manage materials and supply inventory levels.
  • Monitor product quality throughout production, identify and resolve issues, and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Enforce safety procedures, coach staff on proper safety conduct, and identify and address potential hazards within the production area.
  • Schedule routine maintenance for production equipment and coordinate repairs with management and maintenance teams.
  • Track production metrics like output, efficiency, and scrap rates and identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other departments like quality control, maintenance, and sales to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Assist in developing assembly instructions, bills of materials, and routings.
  • Perform applicable inventory control, physical inventory, and measurement functions.
  • Participate in establishing staffing levels to meet production goals and follow plans to achieve them.
  • Work with engineering to implement new products and processes into production.
  • Run pre-production pilot runs when necessary.
  • Stay informed about new production, purchasing, and planning developments by reading books and periodicals, participating in coursework, and attending pertinent seminars and workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Motivating and managing a team, providing clear direction, and delegating tasks effectively.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Identifying and resolving production issues efficiently.
