About The Position

1st shift hours: 3:30am - 12:30pm Monday - Friday; some weekends required, will train on 1st shift 2nd shift hours: 11:30am - 8:30pm Monday - Friday; some weekends required, will train on 1st shift Looking for candidates open to both shifts ideally! This is a working supervisor position located in Elkhart, IN KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Manages a team of press operators and other assigned direct reports through coaching, developing, motivating, managing performance, and when necessary, administering disciplinary actions. Fosters a collaborative, high-performing team environment through clear communication, accountability, engagement, and modeling Plasticade's values and leadership expectations. Environmental, Health, Safety: Champions a safety-first culture across the shift including enforcing strict adherence to all EHS policies and OSHA regulations, acting as a first responder, conducting routine safety audits, and training staff on proper safety protocols. Drives a zero-defect mindset, ensures adherence quality procedures, and supports the standardization of policies, procedures, and work instructions. Assign production tasks to team members considering production needs and individual capabilities to execute team/shift goals. Reviews and approves timecards and time off requests. Monitors attendance and future staffing needs. Accountable for coordinating daily operation activities of the team including troubleshooting, staffing, monitoring inventory levels, meeting production schedules, and housekeeping standards to meet customer requirements including deadlines and quality standards. Ensure that the daily production activities are efficient and that resources like equipment and people are used effectively to minimize downtime, waste, and maximize productivity. Leads daily/weekly/monthly staff and safety meetings Collects data and compiles reports on production metrics, such as output, labor utilization, quality, productivity, and scrap. Ensures all documentation is complete and accurate. Oversees employee training and relevant cross-training to increase production while maintaining the highest level of quality and safety. Partners closely with Human Resources to identify talent, create training programs, and support workforce planning. Partners with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for waste reduction, process standardization, and productivity improvements and implement Lean manufacturing strategies that Improve cycle time, reduce scrap, and improve labor efficiency. Encourage employees to identify areas for improvement in the production process and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Maintains open communication with employees and addresses simple to moderate concerns or conflicts that arise. Focuses on proactively maintaining positive employee relations. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment including 1+ years of leadership experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills (in English) and strong ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization (e.g. entry level to executives, cross-functional).
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Self-starter with strong problem solving, decision making, attention to detail, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, highly preferred.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. Engineering, Operations Management, etc.), preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and experience using ERP systems such as Epicor, preferred.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and operational excellence methodologies and/or Lean Six Sigma experience, is a plus.
