About The Position

At Corbion, we exist to champion preservation in all its forms, preserving food and food production, health, and our planet. The Production Supervisor leads and directs manufacturing employees on her or his shift in all aspects of the lactic acid and derivatives production environment located in Blair, Nebraska. The position is responsible for supervising the manufacturing process to  ensure the plant and all operations employees are following and maintaining cGMP standards. This position is a leader in supporting all Corbion policies and procedures to maintain product quality, and a clean and safe working environment for our employees.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in a highly regulated industry, ideally chemical, food production, or manufacturing plant.
  • Training in application/operation of a range of automated equipment and processes or in the use of specifications, drawings or plans and utilization of computer controlled equipment.
  • Prior experience with behavioral based safety systems.
  • Strong leadership capability, problem solving skills, and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Understanding of automation/computer controlled manufacturing and packaging processes, batch record integrity, critical equipment operation, with the ability to instruct and train employees on efficient and safe operations.
  • Basic computer, Microsoft Word and Excel experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or engineering and prior supervisory experience in a multi-shift operation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct manufacturing employees in all aspects of the production environment including safety, housekeeping, employee performance, time management and approvals.
  • Point of contact responsible for production outcomes on your shift. Execute production activities and assign production priorities for operators in keeping with the production schedule as directed by plant leadership.
  • Verify production plan at the end of each shift, report production performance output and material requirements in SAP, and prioritize escalation of issues from shift to Operations leadership.
  • Exhibit a passion for safety and maintain a positive, clean, and safe work environment for all employees. Coordinate for necessary permits (i.e. LOTO, confined space, etc.) and conduct/document Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for events.
  • Lead the shift start-up meetings to review production, create and maintain a team-focused environment and continue employee training and development of employees in your shift.
  • Maintain cGMP standards and champion continuous improvement in all areas of the production operation.
  • Work with plant leadership and other departments on new initiatives and projects coming into the plant.
  • Execute pitstops & changeovers from an operational perspective, including plant outages.
  • Understand emergency preparedness procedures and appropriate responses to be able to activate the emergency response team in case of an emergency.
  • Review and analyze production records and make data-based decisions to improve our manufacturing operations and production processes.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet customer audit requirements and or government requirements/standards as prioritized by the company.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control/Quality Assurance team to provide product samples each shift and on any issue that may affect the product or production continuity.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance department to accomplish preventive maintenance tasks and repairs.
  • Write and review manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other cGMP documentation.
  • Monitor the ongoing performance of operators. Provide consistent performance feedback, coaching, conduct performance appraisals and where needed perform and document disciplinary action.
  • If performing Production Supervisor duties on an off-shift, outside of business hours, the Production Supervisor is responsible for all emergency planning and interaction with local authorities.
  • Perform within the guidelines of all Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security measures, housekeeping, all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations.  These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure product safety and quality are in compliance.
