The Production Department Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of its department consistent with cost, profit and production goals. This role is responsible for the training and development of its employees, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, with some creativity and latitude expected. The supervisor works under the supervision of a manager and develops methods to achieve department plans and goals. Key responsibilities include managing the production operation across multiple departments and shifts, motivating employees for maximum productivity, and identifying and resolving problems. The supervisor evaluates individual and program performance, coaches employees, and ensures activities comply with all UFP policies, procedures, and applicable laws. This position also involves communicating with employees and management, managing department cost, profitability, and inventory, and leading continuous improvement and safety initiatives. The supervisor prepares reports, maintains records, participates in the Safety Committee, and ensures department compliance with safety standards. Additional duties may include performing tasks consistent with hazardous material handling procedures if assigned to the Treating Department, and driving a forklift to move materials.
