About The Position

The position is ultimately accountable for first-line direction of non-exempt employees involved in the Converting Dept. Responsible for Safety, Quality and Production of Crew. This role will architect the Converting crew by leading in change efforts, sponsoring continuous improvement initiatives, fostering team and individual development toward the desired future state as defined. Managing within the context of a broader organization, he/she will lead the Converting crew in the attainment of major local goals that align with and support broader Corporate initiatives and objectives. Assigns employees to maximize production objectives, maintain quality and attain output requirements. He/she will maintain a variety of reports, records and production documentation to reflect schedules, performance, methods and the like executing and ensuring policies and procedures are followed that maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with computers to include the Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to manage a large, diverse group in a busy environment that is fast paced and rapidly changing.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold self and others accountable for individual and team business results and behaviors to include ensuring an inclusive work environment.
  • Multi-tasking abilities required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, and stoop; ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in industrial management.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Management a plus.
  • 3 - 5 years demonstrated leadership experience required.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Experience in Kaizen methods, 5S, Changeover Reduction Strategies, TPM, and Kanban a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing the team.
  • Monitor and quickly address work related issues to include injuries and incident investigations.
  • Remain in compliance with all EHS regulations, standards, and guidelines
  • Lead crew in the creation, execution and maintenance of a safety culture.
  • Share a trusted relationship with crew; lean, plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day converting operations resulting in product output, quality, service and delivery that exceeds customer expectations in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Build positive employee relations through training, coaching, discipline, etc.
  • Maintain time records.
  • Ensure product quality through process improvement, operating procedures, equipment maintenance, etc.
  • Ensure machines adjustments and equipment repairs are performed to meet quality standards.
  • Ensure production quota is met or exceeded by maintaining adequate staffing level, work schedules, equipment, etc.
  • Maintain production records.
  • Manage work slow by planning, monitoring, and executing targeted job results.
  • Coordinate functions between production and maintenance.
  • Assist Plant Manager by making recommendations for improvements in production control, operating procedure, safety, quality control and performance management.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
