About The Position

The Production Shift Supervisor will manage hourly production employees and oversee the shift-to-shift operations of the Canton Ingot facility. This individual will be responsible for employee engagement, discipline, and training as well as function as an operational leader on their specific furnace, tracking metrics and assuming responsibility for performance. This individual will also be heavily involved in troubleshooting and problem-solving equipment issues (including but not limited to, Plasma ARC Melt, Electron Beam, and VAR furnaces, Blend and Pucking and Press Machinery).

Requirements

Demonstrated 2 years maintenance trouble shooting and problem solving on vacuum furnaces or similar equipment
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Exhibit a strong work ethic that includes a good attendance record
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Available to work all shifts and weekends / holidays as required
Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Experience with Microsoft Office software; Experience with SAP a plus
Ability to manage people and processes
Ability to make decisions and explain the reasoning behind those decisions

Nice To Haves

Prior supervisory/leadership experience preferred
Vocational or undergraduate education in mechanical/electrical systems operations, design, or maintenance is preferred

Responsibilities

Direct and supervise a crew of hourly production employees.
Direct, organize and plan all production activities during a scheduled shift.
Complete all required paperwork for production, safety and payroll.
Hold employees accountable for workplace violations and issue discipline when appropriate.
Coordinate training schedules and maintain training programs for production employees.
Measure machine performance using the established Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) guidelines and procedures.
Work closely with facility management to ensure safe, productive and efficient production.
Coordinate assigned projects related to production processes and production employees.
Increase up time on all equipment by managing preventative maintenance, total productive maintenance, general maintenance, and maintenance of critical spare parts.
Participate in and/or assist with all Continuous Improvement activities and events as well as 6S/Housekeeping.
Develop and recommend improvements to facilities, equipment, or procedures that will improve safety, quality, or productivity.
Ensure employees have the proper training and documentation to complete their assigned tasks.
Ensure adherence to all safety rules and regulations.
Ensure adherence to all quality procedures.
All other tasks as assigned.
