About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tank Supervisor to oversee daily operations within our Batch Plant, Tank, Bath, and Lehr areas. This role is essential to maintaining safe, efficient, and high‑quality glass production. The Tank Supervisor will lead production teams, ensure operational integrity, and support continuous improvement within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 2  years of glass‑making experience required.
  • Skills & Knowledge: Strong understanding of batch, tank, and glass production processes Ability to lead and train operational staff Skilled in problem-solving and decision‑making in fast‑paced industrial settings Strong communication skills across functional departments
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs repeatedly.
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop, twist, kneel.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Must be willing to work a 12 hour, 4 crew rotating schedule.
  • Must be willing and able to be fit tested for a respirator. (Required to shave beard).

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise all personnel involved in production-related activities.
  • Maintain accurate records, conduct investigations, and prepare reports as required.
  • Identify and correct minor operational issues; escalate significant concerns to the Tank Manager or Shift Supervisor.
  • Conduct frequent GEMBA walks of Batch Plant, Tank, Bath, and Lehr areas to monitor equipment and personnel performance.
  • Maintain effective communication with Wareroom, Quality Control, and Maintenance teams.
  • Ensure proper delivery of accurately weighted batches to the tank; authorized to reject batches and adjust moisture content.
  • Oversee emergency cullet supply and manage emergency switchover when necessary.
  • Supervise melting, refining, annealing, and ribbon cutting within established operating parameters.
  • Inspect tank refractories, identify issues, and initiate appropriate repair actions.
  • Provide direction to Process Utilities, General Utilities, and other supporting roles.
