About The Position

Responsible for managing employees in the  livestock area as well as managing the livestock, their behaviors, care, and welfare – including methods to optimize meat quality attributes during swine processing for food;  developing a competent staff of employees through coaching, training, and production techniques; providing timely performance reports to Management along with recommendations on all variances; Proper animal welfare training and application to swine will be a core requirement, including compliance with regulatory standards. Establish good lines of communication between support departments and plant operations; Encourage good work habits and promote safety. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 TO WORK AT TRIUMPH FOODS. Requirements

  • Requires high school education.
  • Two years of meat processing experience and three to five years of supervisory experience.
  • Well-developed management skills utilizing sound management principles in leading a team of employees.
  • Proven ability to train and motivate personnel.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Animal Welfare Certified.
  • TQA Certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language, such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must effectively communicate with USDA, production, and management personnel.
  • Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.

  • Prefer education beyond high school, including special training, vocational school, and/or college courses.

Responsibilities

  • Sort off and segregate hogs with disqualifying physical defects.
  • Achieve TQA certification with the National Pork Board.
  • Acquire knowledge of USDA Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) rules and regulations that apply to the handling and inspection of swine.
  • Oversee the safety of all individuals in the Stockyards area.
  • Ensures the verification of ante-mortem inspection prior to slaughter.
  • Manages man-hours and FTE hours for the department.
  • Enforcing compliance with Government regulations, safety programs, and Company policies and procedures and the importance of quality
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments in the plant in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Facilitate employee monthly meetings/training sessions.
