The Production Supervisor – Materials & Receiving Operations is responsible for leading material receiving and offline operations that support continuous production flow. This role focuses on supervising supplier material receiving, coordinating with vendors, managing backorders and RGAs, and ensuring internal systems accurately reflect material status. The supervisor partners closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to proactively resolve issues and keep production moving.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, materials, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of receiving, inventory control, and supplier coordination processes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP or manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily material receiving operations, including unloading, inspection, staging, and system transactions.
  • Coordinate directly with suppliers regarding deliveries, shortages, backorders, and RGA activity.
  • Track and manage backordered, nonconforming, and returned materials to minimize production disruption.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates within ERP, inventory, and receiving systems.
  • Partner with Production and Scheduling teams to prioritize material flow based on build requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to support material changes, dispositions, and corrective actions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members through training, feedback, and performance management.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Maintain standardized work, process discipline, and 5S practices within the department.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on material flow, accuracy, supplier performance, and efficiency.
  • Analyze data, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve KPIs.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and employee engagement activities.
