About The Position

As a Manufacturing Production Supervisor – Electronics Assembly at Wood-Mizer, you are responsible for the resources and outcomes of your assigned shift within the manufacturing facility. You will work closely with Leads, employees, and cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. You will have full ownership of your area with expectations to manage your staff, maintain equipment, drive continuous improvement, and ensure an organized and safe work environment. In addition to core supervisory responsibilities, this role provides technical support to the electronics assembly area, including troubleshooting, interpreting electrical schematics, and training employees on proper assembly and diagnostic techniques related to 12V and 24V electrical systems.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Support the Safety Team.
  • Monitor and enforce employee use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Supervise employee work habits to ensure safety is the top priority.
  • Evaluate the working environment and resolve safety hazards with employees.
  • Correct unsafe behavior through coaching and instruction, as needed.
  • Report serious safety hazards to the Manager and Safety Team immediately.
  • Supervise daily cleaning activities to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
  • Set the example for all employees by consistently following all safety rules without exception.
  • Ensure safe handling and assembly of electrical components and adherence to electrical safety practices.
  • Responsible for all administrative duties pertaining to the department (Human Resources, incident reports, attendance, etc.).
  • Oversee employee performance to maximize departmental efficiency.
  • Complete annual evaluations, recommend wage increases, and review employee structure regularly.
  • Monitor setup times and drive process improvements.
  • Supervise and maintain the cross-training matrix to support coverage for vacations, absences, and demand changes.
  • Cooperate with Leads to implement Lean activities and reinforce Lean principles.
  • Supervise daily direction of employees and overall workflow of the department.
  • Develop and promote a positive team environment.
  • Support and coach Leads on a daily basis.
  • Control, supervise, and communicate overtime needs to ensure schedules are met.
  • Supervise the quality of parts and assemblies to ensure employees are following Wood-Mizer standards.
  • Follow up with Leads to identify and address production issues throughout the shift.
  • Develop and implement solutions to prevent recurring quality issues.
  • Act immediately in response to production down situations and notify Manager and other Supervisors.
  • Facilitate maintenance and repair of tools and equipment to ensure proper working condition.
  • Ensure proper assembly, testing, and validation of electronics components.
  • Reinforce adherence to electrical schematics, wiring standards, and assembly procedures.
  • Interact daily with Production Supervisors to communicate schedules and operational priorities.
  • Supervise and balance production between Finished Goods schedules and active jobs (customer orders/transfers).
  • Communicate headcount changes (vacations, absences, terminations) to the Manager daily.
  • Develop and execute recovery plans with Leads when production falls behind schedule.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve delays in shift operations to meet production deadlines.
  • Monitor incomplete jobs daily to ensure shipping deadlines are met.
  • Communicate delays, risks, and recovery plans to leadership.
  • Work with the Manager and other Supervisors to identify inefficiencies and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Provide hands-on support to the electronics assembly area as needed.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and assembly-related issues to minimize downtime and defects.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of 12V and 24V electrical systems used in production.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and wiring layouts.
  • Train and support employees in proper electrical assembly techniques and schematic interpretation.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving recurring electrical issues through root cause analysis.
  • Support implementation of engineering changes related to electrical components and systems.
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to improve assembly processes and reliability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
