About The Position

The purpose of this position is to lead a shift of 6-8 Process Experts (PEs) in the daily execution of Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, and Engagement tasks. This role is critical to identifying, escalating, and addressing emerging issues, which could impact the organization’s ability to safely manufacture in-spec product per the production schedule. A key aspect of this role is developing the PEs on shift and providing informal and formal Performance Management of the team. On a limited, as-need basis, provide back-up support to the shift PEs such as Flow-To-Work tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the assigned 24/7 shift operating team in setting priorities, defining and mitigating present and emerging risks, and executing tasks to safely manufacture first-quality product per the production schedule.
  • Facilitate shift SQRE meeting at the beginning of every shift with 100% engagement by the shift PE team including the Operations Contractor with emphasis on defining and prioritizing recurring and non-recurring tasks and identifying and mitigating present and emerging risks. Risks and issues that need to be escalated to the Core team are captured and communicated.
  • Follow assigned shift tasks to completion, communicating and escalating any hindrances to timely task completion if necessary.
  • At the end-of-shift, perform documented face-to-face turnover with the oncoming shift Team Captain and the Daily Execution Leader (DEL) as necessary.
  • Escalate any emerging issues related to Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, and Engagement to site leadership in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that safety flashes, preliminary UPE reports, and work notifications (WNs) are entered in a timely manner by the applicable shift core team member
  • Communicate direction, instructions, action items, etc. from Core resources to the shift PEs, particularly direction, instructions, and action items assigned in Production Planning meetings.
  • Report out regularly on plant status and shift activities to site leadership via email.
  • Serve as first level of conflict resolution within the shift and between shifts.
  • Provide coaching to PEs and other shift TCs regarding topics including but not limited to PPE, completion of tasks, etc.
  • Ensure that all process areas are covered by qualified PEs for the duration of the shift.
  • Perform overtime administration that is compliant with the Overtime Policy.
  • Perform vacation administration.
  • Update the vacation book with PE vacations, OT needs, and OT availability regularly
  • Ensure that PEs meet expectations with basic OD, including documented face-to-face turnover. Escalate any issues to the DEL.
  • Coordinate training for shift PEs
  • Ensure that trainees on shift are progressing through training in a timely manner. This responsibility includes submission of a Roles and Responsibilities form, timely sign offs and submissions of CEs, and timely scheduling of oral boards.
  • Escalate any training barriers, challenges, and needs for training support to both the DEL and Training Coordinator.
  • Support the PE hiring process through active participation in the interview process as an interviewer and tour guide.
  • Participate in shift balancing discussions with other Team Captains (TCs) and the DEL.
  • Participate in and coordinate team member participation in Gemba walks, UPEs, RFRs, MOCs, PHAs, audits, customer visits, HOP learning teams, engagement efforts, etc. as necessary.
  • Develop PEs by providing meaningful feedback on skills and competencies. Request support from resources to further develop PEs as necessary.
  • Conduct informal performance feedback throughout the year.
  • Conduct a formal mid-year and end of year performance feedback using Navigator performance management tools.
  • Interface and maintain clear communication with Operations Contractors.
  • Facilitate 0645 AM and PM shift SQRE
  • Actively participate in the 0800 AM Core SQRE Meeting (M-F)
  • Attend Production Planning Meeting (Tues and Fri)
  • Attend TAR Meeting (as scheduled)
  • Actively participate in one-on-one meetings with the DEL (monthly on 4 days)
  • Actively participate in Team Captain Meetings (monthly)
  • Model behavior expectations in the areas of Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, Engagement, and Productivity and actively participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • On a limited, as-need basis, provide back-up support to the shift PEs such as Flow-To-Work tasks.
  • Be knowledgeable of Standard Operating Procedures to uphold standards of Operational Discipline.
  • Approve, issue and/or receive required Stewardship-related permits such as Safe Work Permit, Line Break, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, etc.
  • Utilize personal computer skills to optimize and troubleshoot product quality and equipment operations via PLC and DCS interface.
  • Document maintenance work requests and activities performed utilizing maintenance management system (SAP).
  • Initiate and participate in Learning Teams, Operational Learnings and Root Cause Analysis of Stewardship, Quality, Reliability and Productivity unplanned events.
