About The Position

We are seeking a Superintendent, Finishing with strong leadership and team motivation skills to join our team on this exciting project. The Superintendent, Finishing reports to the Director of Manufacturing Operations and will play a key role during the commissioning, startup and steady state operations of our state-of-the-art rare earth magnet manufacturing plant. The Superintendent, Finishing provides leadership, management, and establishes goals to ensure employee safety; reliable plant operations; a trained, qualified and engaged workforce; positive employee relations; financial performance and compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Superintendent, Finishing will oversee preventative maintenance and equipment upgrades and will recommend procedures or modifications to improve reliability and operating efficiency as well as analyzing process conditions. The Superintendent, Finishing is responsible for procuring adequate resources, including but not limited to, manpower, tools, equipment, and spare parts, for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in machining or wet chemical metal processing environment.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.

  • Strong understanding of engineering deliverables, drawing control, and multidisciplinary project coordination.
  • Experience in greenfield or large-scale industrial capital programs.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, construction-driven environments.
  • Ability to balance structure and flexibility while building new processes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall operations of the Finishing Plant and ancillary operations; ensure that maintenance, repairs, testing and calibration of equipment are performed according to the guidelines and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the highest standards of conduct and integrity in all dealings with or on behalf of MP Materials at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Manage cost, schedule, and safety processes for outage scopes of work.
  • Ensure that entire plant operates within company goals of safety, environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Work with engineering staff and contractors regarding specialized repairs and maintenance for the power plant and water treatment plant.
  • Formulate and manage financial forecasting in accordance with budgetary and capital expense constraints.
  • Direct plant staff in the performance of plant outages, capital projects and daily operations.
