The Production Specialist role is responsible for ensuring efficient application of people and resources to meet delivery, quality, and safety standards. This involves identifying and deploying technical skill sets, managing resources, and ensuring team members are trained and compliant with procedures and quality requirements. The specialist will perform root cause analysis, resolve problems, and promote a team-oriented environment. A key aspect of the role is to identify, evaluate, and recommend continuous improvements for safety, product/process quality, productivity, manufacturing costs, and schedule performance. The position requires analyzing production performance, addressing capacity issues, and driving corrective actions. It also involves identifying and documenting training needs for employees, interfacing daily with various manufacturing support groups (maintenance, warehouse, engineering, production planning, quality, purchasing), and working with individuals at all organizational levels to achieve company objectives. The specialist is responsible for responding to employee questions and concerns, providing performance evaluations, conducting accident investigations, STOP observations, and safety/explosives audits. Daily communication of departmental activities to the next shift supervisor is essential for smooth operations. The role also includes responsibility for inventory accuracy, working with cycle counters to understand discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions.
