About The Position

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Technical Manufacturing & Quality Team as a Production Science Intern. This is an exciting opportunity to assist with material validation, documentation, and process support activities that ensure materials meet quality and performance requirements for production. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently executing experiments, compiling data, and communicating findings to Operation Managers. You will be mentored by a senior team member to support and effectively guide your contributions to project objectives. The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated learner, an effective team player, and possess a strong interest in learning about molecular biology and experimental design. The successful candidate should also be detail-oriented and have experience in basic molecular biology laboratory techniques. This position is a part-time summer internship (maximum of 29 hours per week).

Requirements

  • A graduate or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Life Science, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrate effective and professional communication skills while working collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a molecular biology or biochemistry laboratory is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the qualification and validation of materials and processes.
  • Run experiments using common molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid isolations, etc.)
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain required documentation according to ISO 9001 standards.
  • Maintain and keep detailed lab notebook and be able to compile, analyze, and present data in scientific settings.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment and handle standard lab equipment.
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
