About The Position

The Production Scheduler is responsible for creating and maintaining a short-term, capacity‑constrained production schedule that supports on time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and alignment with customer demand. This role must constantly monitor and adjust for manpower, material availability, and other capacity restrictions to satisfy distribution build plan and MTO customer requirements. Working onsite at the manufacturing facility, this role facilitates communication between production, procurement, shipping, and corporate supply chain teams to ensure all teams are aligned to the plan and deliverables. Strong communication, planning, and problem‑solving skills are essential for success in this fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2–5 years of experience in Production or Inventory Planning
  • ERP/MRP systems proficiency — SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
  • Experience analyzing large amounts of information/data and developing fact-based conclusions
  • Strong understanding of demand–supply dynamics and how demand signals flow through the MRP system, even though this role does not perform demand planning
  • Must understand the MPS detailed scheduling, planning and execution principles of a manufacturing setting
  • Responsible for analyzing and reporting planned vs. actual performance to measure schedule accuracy and effectiveness
  • This role works closely with supply planning to find the balance between optimal inventory levels and production efficiencies.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Able to solve problems using various analytical tools, including root cause analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated sense of energy/urgency and ability to learn on the fly.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Using high level master schedule (RCCP file), create Monthly/Weekly build schedule for distribution requirements and daily weekly targets to meet MTO assumptions.
  • Create, manage, and adjust daily/weekly production schedules in SAP to meet customer orders and distribution build plan.
  • Review material availability, capacity constraints, and labor requirements to ensure schedule feasibility.
  • Monitor work order progress and proactively communicate delays, constraints, and possible misses to Supply Chain and Operations Team
  • Prevent over/under production and troubleshoot root causes of missed production targets.
  • Work with supply chain to set optimal transfer levels and production build quantities for all finished goods.
  • Develop spreadsheets, charts and reports pertaining to production requirements, inventories, and/or schedule performance.
  • Represent Vancouver Manufacturing in all production schedule, capacity planning, and other related meetings.
  • Responsible for the management of planned and released production orders in SAP ensuring data integrity in the system
  • Communicate schedule changes and priorities across departments.
  • Partner with purchasing when required to improve raw materials flow
  • Review production plan, material availability and release production orders when required
  • Must be organized and structured
  • Take full responsibility for accuracy of planning related Master Data and notify Manufacturing Engineering of inconsistencies or concerns with routings and BOMs
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and workflow efficiency.
