About The Position

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Production Planner. This role is onsite at our Syracuse, NY facility. Relocation is not provided for this role. Eaton's Crouse-Hinds Business manufactures over 100,000 products for NEC and IEC applications, including: conduit fittings and cable glands, industrial control and electrical apparatus, enclosures, industrial luminaires (including LED), plugs and receptacles, drilling and marine products, commercial construction and solar solutions. The Syracuse, NY site core competencies are iron & aluminum foundries, machining, plating, and assembly. Manufacturing about 1 million units per month, the Syracuse team places high value on talented professionals who are focused on problem solving and efficiency. The Production Planner position entails developing and maintaining short and long-term site-specific production plans and performing all required duties related to planning, scheduling, purchasing, and expediting for specified families of products to maximize customer service, minimize inventory investment, and make efficient use of purchased resources. The role involves the use of the local ERP system (SAP) as well as several standalone (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint) tools to be used for following standardized practices, policies, and procedures with minimal supervision, and selecting alternative methods where appropriate to achieve service and investment goals. Daily work will include releasing orders for manufacture, purchase and assembly departments, and will involve coordination with other Eaton facilities.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in planning, purchasing, and scheduling functions within a manufacturing environment.

  • Thorough knowledge of planning and scheduling.
  • Considerable knowledge of manufacturing and production, forecasting and inventory management procedures.
  • Tact and persuasive ability in personal, telephone, and written contacts with company personnel, vendors, and customers to obtain information and cooperation in meeting sales and operating plan objectives.
  • Must leverage good communication, analytical and PC skills with the ability to problem solve quickly and effectively
  • In office on site position – is not a work from home or hybrid position.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Manage a complement of finished goods, components and raw materials ensuring that parts are available for the customer on time with the least amount of inventory stocked. Measured by On Time To Request (OTTR) and On Time To Delivery (OTTD)
  • Monitor incoming customer orders, shipments, forecasts, backlog, inventory, and customer service by assigned product family.
  • Print drawings, layouts, and create job packs for use on the floor as required. Ensure job packs are handled and released to the floor according to standards and policy.
  • Schedule machining centers and machining departments in areas where multiple product families share equipment, ensuring prioritization of orders are handled in accordance with total business guidelines.
  • Manage inventory at all levels to ensure annual goals in dollars and inventory turns are met, and materials are not created in excess of requirements.
  • Maintain finished goods at levels at or above annual customer service goals for the unit.
  • Maintain all material master data pertaining to lot sizes, safety stocks, reorder points, material replenishment types, lead times in accordance with policy and procedure within the local ERP system (SAP)
  • Perform purchasing execution activities for required sub-components and raw materials.
  • Validate purchased requisitions and/or place purchase orders on time from system generated signals and also in response to non-linear “impact” order sizes.
  • Contact and interact with COE Buyers and/or vendors to communicate delivery expectations, forecasts, design changes, etc.
