About The Position

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining production schedules to ensure timely, efficient manufacturing operations and on-time delivery to customers’ demand. This role works closely with Operations, Purchasing, and Manufacturing Engineering to balance capacity, materials, and labor in support of production goals to meet demand. Assignment of Functions and Responsibilities: Own and execute production planning and scheduling for assigned resource groups to support various programs. Develop detailed daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand signals, capacity, and material availability. Translate demand plans, work orders, and engineering specifications into executable production schedules and job sequences. Coordinate with Procurement and Inventory Control to ensure materials and components are available to meet schedule requirements. Create, release, and manage all orders, ensuring accurate routing, completion, and closure in the ERP system. Monitor shop floor performance, work order progress, and production output to ensure adherence to plan. Identify and resolve production scheduling conflicts, material shortages, and capacity constraints in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to validate capacity models, improve throughput, and reduce downtime. Communicate schedule changes, production risks, and recovery plans to relevant stakeholders. Analyze work-in-progress (WIP), and upcoming orders to optimize sequencing, minimize lead times, and achieve key KPIs such as schedule adherence. Maintain and continuously improve planning accuracy, system data integrity, and standard operating procedures for scheduling. Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure effective communication and alignment between material, production and procurement

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; or 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment as a Production Planner, Scheduler, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) — including work order management, materials coordination, and capacity scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of Bills of Material (BOMs), Methods of Manufacturing, routing structures, and shop floor workflows.
  • Ability to interpret production data, identify bottlenecks or shortages, and recommend corrective actions in real time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating across operations, procurement, and engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong commitment to product quality, process accuracy, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and other planning or reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across departments to ensure schedule adherence and operational success.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or process improvement methodologies is a plus.
