The Production Planner coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules in a manner that promotes safe and efficient work practices. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that customer expectations are met by supporting manufacturing teams to achieve daily production requirements and maintaining visibility of materials, schedules, and order status. The Production Planner’s performance directly impacts On-Time/In-Full (OTIF) delivery and related KPIs.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, both internal and external.
  • Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working within a Production Tracking or Monitoring System (e.g., ShotScope, RJG, or similar).
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and adapt to changing priorities.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of experience using MRP or production scheduling systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all M&M safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Supports manufacturing to ensure daily production requirements are achieved, meeting customer expectations. This role directly influences the On-Time/In-Full (OTIF) KPI and is evaluated on that performance.
  • Reviews incoming orders and provides expected completion dates with the goal of meeting customer-requested delivery dates.
  • Analyzes and prepares production documentation to ensure work orders are clear, accurate, and ready for execution.
  • Monitors material supply flow and identifies shortages or bottlenecks affecting production.
  • Creates and maintains production schedules, prioritizing job orders for maximum efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Ensures timely release of work orders in ShotScope (or comparable system) to provide visibility for all planning and purchasing requirements.
  • Coordinates with department supervisors and other functional teams to track production progress and completion dates.
  • Communicates daily with shop-floor leadership to resolve issues, address delays, and maintain schedule adherence.
  • Updates and maintains reports related to production progress, work in process (WIP), and raw-material inventory.
  • Ensures special instructions or customer requirements are captured in work orders to prevent missed expectations.
  • Assists in reviewing and verifying the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Maintains an organized and clean work area in compliance with M&M’s 5S and safety standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which may include tasks at a lower or higher level of proficiency as business needs require.
