POSITION SUMMARY The Production Painter is responsible for applying coatings on a variety of parts and surfaces within a paint booth environment. This position will manage all aspects of the coating process including surface preparation, paint application, quality control, equipment management as well as monitor and track usage to ensure compliance to EPA air permit regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to work overtime (days, weekends) as necessary
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with applying spray coatings in a production environment.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare surfaces for painting that include the use of masking tape and fixtures.
  • Perform paint operations utilizing multiple application methods including HVLP spray guns, spray cans and brushes as required.
  • Ensure the correct approved paint recipe is utilized including the use of paint thinner when required.
  • Track approved paint usage to ensure compliance with hourly and monthly spray totals by populating a MS Windows-based spreadsheet.
  • Sustain a clean and safe working environment, including (but not limited to) daily and weekly cleaning and preventative maintenance activities on spray equipment and the booth.
  • Unload parts to and from paint booth using various methods; including the use of overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose paint problems that include inconsistent spray, spray gun cleaning and mechanical issues and paint visual defects contributed to the spray process.
  • Support continuous improvement activities by constantly evaluating system standards and supporting daily production metrics (Safety Quality, Prod, Cost).
  • Additional duties as necessary.
