SUMMARY Dewaxes foundry molds and fires in burnout furnace in accordance with applicable engineering instructions and General Standard Practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to write and speak simple sentences and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to operate forklift truck is helpful.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Removes molds from final dry tunnel and loads them into cut off cabinet.
  • Utilizes hand held, air-powered tool to cut off mold bleeders and preps molds for dewax operation.
  • Loads molds into steam autoclave and starts autoclave cycle to remove wax from inside the mold.
  • Unloads dewaxed molds from autoclave and transports them on carts to burnout furnace.
  • Loads molds into burnout furnace, and runs appropriate cycle.
  • Following burnout operation, transports molds to weigh station and records weight.
  • Ensures that all personal protective equipment is in good working order.
  • Wears all required personal protective equipment.
  • Completes all required documentation.
