About The Position

Receive and measure broth transfers and separate bacteria cell mass from the broth. Work hours: 12 hour rotating shifts, however business needs may require additional hours worked.

  • Willing to cross-train into other areas; ensure conformance to standard work by following the process; communicate any issues to the appropriate resources in a timely manner;
  • Computer skills, e.g. Excel;
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to work rotating 12 hour shifts;
  • Occasional confined space entry;
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of shift;
  • Ability to frequently move about the site to collect samples;
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders to get to control room and to move about site to collect samples.
  • Hot/cold and dusty/wet environment, depending on location in refinery building;
  • Must be able to wear full-face respirator and protective equipment for testing. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must complete annual medical monitoring program, including pulmonary function testing.
  • High school diploma / GED

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial/Manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Receive broth from Fermentation department, taking accurate and timely measurements and send to MF to filter bacteria cells;
  • Collect broth samples and test pH, total solids, PCV (packed cell volume);
  • Accurately and legibly record sample data, communicate measurements to fermentation department clearly and timely;
  • Clean In Place (CIP) MF skids;
  • Monitor and control assigned process, including but not limited to tank levels, pH and temperature;
  • Inspecting equipment (pumps, agitators) for abnormal operating conditions;
  • Print bar codes for sample bottles;
  • Take samples to QAQC department to test lysine concentration;
  • Perform other duties as necessary
