As the Acid Operator, you will assist the Furnace Operator in the production of phosphoric acid. This includes but is not limited to operating auxiliary equipment for pumping acids, operate acid storage facilities, make food grade acid, operate acid filters, rework non-conforming acid batches, load acid rail cars, trucks and drums to meet customer, production and shipping requirements. Support ESH Compliance: Attend monthly safety meeting and complete all regulatory ESH&T requirements Follow all plant safety procedures and requirements for handing phosphoric acid, hydrogen peroxide, hydrogen sulfide and caustic Perform job safely, in an environmentally sound manner and in accordance with all cGMP requirements Follow plant emergency procedures Acid Operators are members of the plant emergency brigade Must successfully complete RCRA introductory/orientation training Must successfully complete RCRA annual refresher training Potential RCRA responsibilities: Inspect RCRA waste storage areas Safely operate hazardous waste equipment and/or processes Safely package, label, store, load and ship hazardous wastes Ensure that hazardous waste manifest and documentation requirements are met Respond to hazardous waste incidents and notify proper authorities Maintain equipment associated with hazardous waste management Operations personnel must successfully demonstrate and document hazardous waste qualifications upon completion of on-the-job training Job Responsibilities: Make technical and food grade acids Operate H2S scrubber system Operate all acid filtering facilities Load railcars and trucks with acid Operate railcar puller Fill totes, drums and liquid-paks with acid Check the strength of acid at various points in the process Adjust the strength of acid as required Control the acid distribution system Ensure that customer requirements are met prior to shipment of acid Rework acid batches and product in storage as required Operate drum filter Ensure that production and housekeeping in assigned areas meet Good Manufacturing Practices and standards Comply with the requirements of the ICL Lawrence Quality System Ensure compliance with all food safety requirements Identify maintenance needs and write work notifications Assist in updating SOP’s and training manuals Interface with other team members to ensure a safe work environment, communication and optimize material flow Operate yard truck Operate Kalmar fork truck Complete other job responsibilities as assigned
