Position Summary: The Production Manager will report to the Plant Manager and own the quality & efficient output of the internal conversion processes delivering to market rate of demand (MRD). This role will manage a team of supervisors specializing in manufacturing, tooling, maintenance, and safety ensuring safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and costs are met on products that are produced effectively, efficiently, on time, within budget and in compliance with our customer expectations. The Production Manager will lead and support continuous improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and operating costs by developing strategies, financial plans, capital budgets, and personnel plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or minimum of relevant work experience of 5 years in production management function required.
  • 7 years’ experience minimum in manufacturing and production environment preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes and techniques in quality and delivery systems/standards.
  • Must be able to coach and motivate staff to higher level of performance.
  • Must possess a proven track record of driving accountability.
  • Understanding of finance and management principles
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • High level of computer skills required (Microsoft Office, ERP systems)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to apply 80/20 in critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving required.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, relationship building, engagement with an ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complexity and change.
  • Some travel is required; primarily domestic, occasional international.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically Positions the Business Collaborates with plant leadership to support the definition, communication and implementation of operational strategies aligned with the strategic intent.
  • Converts strategies to action by establishing goals and objectives to drive operational strategies and continuous improvements meeting annual and long-range plan objectives.
  • Lead the tooling staff to create and implement new and/or innovative solutions to improve efficiency, durability and simplicity of the tooling while also improving the quality and control of parts being produced.
  • Delivers Results Accountable for forecasting and delivering monthly and annual financial performance metrics related to revenue, labor, and costs meeting annual plan objectives.
  • Define, communicate, and hold direct reports and peer teams accountable to delivering to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive performance to meeting customer demand, operational objectives, and financial results.
  • Leverages the ITW Toolbox (80/20, USa, PLS) and lean manufacturing improvement techniques to produce optimal operational excellence and customer satisfaction improvements.
  • Leads Effectively Champions safety, quality and operational improvement initiatives improving employee engagement and employee led programs through empowerment and recognition.
  • Pro-actively directs the resolution of issues through effective root cause analysis and corrective action to ensure effective management of safety, quality, delivery, and cost impacts.
  • Utilizes lessons learned and continuous improvement practices to read-across corrections or best practices eliminating and preventing risk in the organization.
  • Talent Development Champions the ITW Leadership Development framework; sources, develops, and retains a diverse talent pipeline identifying key leaders for future roles.
  • Coaches, assesses, and develops talent objectively and candidly, making tough calls when necessary.
  • Coaches, develops & manages a direct staff of production, tooling, and maintenance front line leaders to meet operational & talent development objectives.
