About The Position

Glacial Lakes Energy (GLE) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Manager to join their team in Huron, SD. GLE operates four ethanol facilities across South Dakota and employs over 200 professionals, committed to creating value for stakeholders and protecting the environment. The Production Manager will oversee daily plant operations, providing direct leadership to operators and staff to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. This role involves optimizing production processes, resolving operational issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth plant performance. The Production Manager is also a safety leader, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and maintaining product quality within established specifications, and is responsible for communicating production performance to senior leadership. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Manufacturing/production experience required
  • 5+ years of leadership/supervisory experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage teams, including hiring and performance management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ethanol industry experience preferred
  • Ethanol plant experience (highly desired for leadership/supervisory experience)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead plant operators and production staff
  • Reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process and production issues
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety standards
  • Ensure all products meet quality specifications
  • Report production metrics and performance to the Plant Manager
  • Manage hiring, training, performance reviews, and employee development
