Job Purpose: Build and manage an efficient production team overseeing the product realization process. Track, monitor, report and take action on KPI's at various levels within the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position is required to assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to Quality Systems Regulations, ISO 9001/13485, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes). Production Operations Core Responsibility Oversee daily operations of the production floor to fulfill sales order requirements Manage schedule and communicate priority of jobs to Leads and Assemblers Ensure proper allocation of labor and resources Ensure standard manufacturing procedures and policies are being followed Oversee maintenance of machines and equipment; propose new equipment purchases with ROI justification Maintain a clean and organized production floor Training Core Responsibility Schedule and provide training for skills, process, and onboarding of all production department employees Research and propose new training classes and opportunities Train employees on ISO controlled documents Employee Oversight Core Responsibility Build a high performing production team Ensure high morale of production team Ensure all safety and GMP standards are followed Monitor employee performance and attendance Communications Core Responsibility Lead job status meeting and provide progress reports to effected parties Create, track, and report KPIs to management and leadership teams Oversee shift change and facilitate communications between shifts to ensure proper labor allocation Complete investigations into cost and labor variances Procedures and Processes Core Responsibility Own ISO procedures and documents; Updated as necessary Ensure policies, procedures, and processes are being followed and administer disciplinary action when required Provide support during audits Propose changes to controlled documents to improve efficiencies and robustness of procedures Continual Improvement Secondary Responsibility Manage and complete actions assigned as part of continual improvement initiatives Propose process improvements and work with cross functional groups to complete Create and maintain a culture of lean manufacturing and continual improvement Engineering Support Secondary Responsibility Represent production department interests on new programs as technical expert Provide feedback to Engineering group on production capabilities in relation to quoting methodology Other duties as assigned Positions Direct Reports : Job titles subject to change Production Coordinator Production Supervisors and Leads Machine Operators Production Assemblers Maintenance Personnel Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of GMP, ISO, other requirements/regulations, and their application in the operations environment. Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute long term improvement projects. Knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations. Proven problem-solving ability to resolve technical issues as well as employee, departmental, and inter-departmental issues. Established ability to participate as a team member or leader in cross-functional groups, including external customers. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to perform complex mathematical operations and interpret graphs, drawings and production specifications. Use tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to gather, analyze and present data. Ability to build a continuous improvement culture for the company. Ability to motivate and influence at all levels of an organization. Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent in operations management, engineering, or business administration or six (6) plus years related experience and/or training. Four (4) plus years of experience directly supervising production personnel. Requires broad technical and administration experience in a value-added manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment. Strong computer skills including proficient in MS Office and an ERP system. Preferred: Experience with ERP system set-up and manipulation. Experience working in a LEAN environment. Experience in electronics industry. Experience in harness, cable, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
