About The Position

The Production Manager-MN, primarily responsible for managing, leading, and improving the operations, personnel, quality and safety through continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborates with the Minnesota team and Nebraska leadership team to optimize operational performance, identifying cost savings initiatives, increase safety and quality while maintaining key performance indicators. The Production Manager (PM) will be responsible for the sales of the Company's by-product inventory. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Production The PM will collaborate with the Nebraska leadership team to assist in the production schedule of the head saw and determine the amount of board feet and/or needed to meet the objectives. The PM executes the schedule on a daily basis by coordinating with the team to meet the expectations/goal for the day and/or week. The PM coordinates with the leadership team to assist in the production of the by-products of the finished product to be refurbished into a saleable product. This coordination includes allocation of resources, such as labor usage and time and the competency levels of the employees. The PM ensures the accounting aspects of final products are realized in the accounting and/or ERP systems. The PM collaborates with the appropriate departments to ensure the accuracy of the production output. The PM ensures the throughput such as board feet/man hour is in accordance with the production schedule and key performance indicators. Inventory and Quality The PM ensures the accuracy of the inventory by performing proactive inventory practices and verifying the incoming and outgoing inventory. The PM will collaborate with the leadership team to ensure the inventory variance is acceptable with company's goals. The PM will monitor the level of inventory based upon the future production schedule, sales forecasting, and other factors that affect the level of inventory including future pricing, demand, and supply constraints. The PM monitors the quality of the inventory and executes proactive quality activities such as vendor evaluation, predictive analysis, incoming inspections, process controls, and/or inventory turns/rotation. Facilitate continuous improvement and have an understanding on nonconformances, inspections, root causes, containments, corrective actions, and quality management systems/strategies. Review existing operational policies and procedures to foster a culture for continuous improvement, best practices and effective workflows. Safety and Maintenance The PM ensures that safety programs are being implemented and provides a safety value culture. The PM validates employee training and determines employee competency and compliance through monitoring and evaluation. The PM implements, maintains and improves preventive, predictive and regular maintenance programs in operations. This includes identifying critical processes/equipment and understanding the opportunity costs of maintenance such as preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. The PM assists with the leadership team to influence vendors in the areas of logistics, equipment, infrastructure and/or other critical processes throughout the organization. The PS establishes relationships with external stakeholders to assist in the negotiating of contract pricing, customer sales and service. Sales The PM develops a relationship with existing and potential customers with the finished products that are not supplied to Timberlyne. The PM follows the sales process and planning based upon the level of inventory and customer demand. The PM will collaborate with the Nebraska leadership team to determine the pricing strategy for our products. Human Resources The PM reviews qualified candidates and assists in the selection of the candidates that are aligned with the company's values of safety, quality, reliability and accountability. Identify pivotal skills sets needed for each position to ensure the candidate meets the expectations.

Requirements

  • Must understand key performance indicators and metrics such as productivity, throughput, production capacity per machine, inventory turns, and/or other metrics from the Leadership team.
  • Must provide effective solutions to increase key performance indicators while providing production schedules to meet Timberlyne and customer requirements. This includes understating the supply chain management and lean management principles, and data analytics.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to have difficult and adaptive conversations with the operation's team.
  • Be proactive in communication and have the ability to influence others for win-win solutions, maintain self-confidence and show empathy.
  • Understanding unintended consequences on the decision-making process.
  • Be able to understand workflows, processes, root cause analysis, containment and corrective action processes.

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office 365 products and be able to provide effective presentations skills to internal and external stakeholders.
